Governor proposes a 14% reduction in education funding,
which equals $2, 769,565.12.  This equals 92 jobs.

The budget of the State of Illinois is in crisis. The State currently owes our school district more than $2,200,000. The prospects for next year are even bleaker. The Governor has posted details of the budget crisis on line at http://www2.illinois.gov/budget . The lack of a sustainable and equitable revenue source to fund our schools is causing this growing problem. For the next two weeks, the taxpayers of the State of Illinois have the unprecedented opportunity to give input to the Governor. Contact Governor Quinn now using the link at the bottom of the Governor’s budget page and let him know that you support his efforts to force the State Legislature to immediately address this urgent situation for our schools.

Welcome to Bright Futures!

If you live or work with children we have something for you!

Bright Futures is an umbrella covering direct and indirect services for young (birth-5) children and their families. We recognize the challenges modern parents encounter and hope to assist with programs, materials, ideas or a helpful ear. We work WITH parents and providers to build strong foundations for school and life.

Preschool
State, federal, and local funds support programs for 3-5 year olds. We have blended classes of typically developing children and those children identified having a disability. Class sizes range from 15 to 20 with at least two adults in a class. Children need to go through a screening process (Learning Check Up) to determine eligibility. The program enrolls children who have been identified as eligible. Over 450 children are served across the county each year.

Resource Center & Lending Library

The center provides FREE resources for parents, providers, and the families of Knox, Warren, Henderson and McDonough Counties. Come in and see all of the toys available for you to borrow.

Partners In Parenting

An early learning program for parents with children birth to 3 years of age. We are affiliated with Parents As Teachers, a nationally known program which has provided services to many families throughout the U.S. and six countries abroad.
